I blame God. After the GA Tech game, on the radio, Spence said that he was "simply doing what Paul told the Corinthians -- 'run to win.'" Paul was a solid apostle, but not, actually an offensive coordinator. I suspect that God may be angry about not knowing the difference between being a fisher of men, and devising a game plan.
Spence believed the hype. Thunder n Lightning are really Marshmallow n Peanut Butter when CU doesn't throw down field. 2 games with 11 defenders within 6 yards of the line = failure unless you spread em out. We had success throwing down field even when we had an incomplete. Maybe Spence should have faith in his "God Given Abilities" instead of ESPN Hype. Reggie Merriweather is the only TOUGH back we have. No. 10 to Out of the Top 25 in 10 days.
Unbelieveable Coaching Blunders for 2 games. Great D! No O! Proctor couldn't hit water with a pass if he was in a boat in the middle of Lake Hartwell & Spence won't spread the opposition defense at all. 7 blockers for 9 defenders in the box. Can't win that way, Boys.
Coaching: The difference between going to the Orange Bowl and the Meineke Care Care Bowl. Wake did it's part to help get us there, Spence did his part to prevent us from winning the ACC Championship.
sambo, how can you complain about Proctor when we only had 2 attempts at passes over 10 yards all day and he hit both of them. The pass to Hunter was wide open because of the defense maryland was playing all day. Our offensive coordinator didn't take what he was given by the umd defense, and that's why we lost.
Brad, we're int he false hope stage, where we're desperately trying to figure out every scenario that might get us back in. Like, well what if BC's stadium collapsed while tehy were playing Maryland.
Chris, You're right to single out our blocking, but you don't go to the root cause. Look at Uttles's diagrams above. We can't block because teams know we're just gonna run, screen, or short pass, and they stack the line. Mr. Pate Sr. said it himself, "5 can't block 9, it just don't work." If Spence were to change up the playcalling and not give everything away, our line would be FAR more successful blocking.

ReplyDeleteAnonymous, this is the most sense you've made all year... but I still don't like you talking bad about me.
ReplyDeleteAnd THAT is why GT was ranked ahead of Clemson in the most recent ScalpEm.com Top 25.

ReplyDeleteWe didn't even realize what we had in Whitehurst till he was gone
ReplyDeletehard to realize how good whitehurst was when you delegate him to throwing screens all day

Chili & Willy,
ReplyDeletehow long did it take yall to move through the 5 stages of grief when you realized your team couldn't win the ACC & go BCS anymore?
I'm still stuck in depression with no end in sight.
We looked pretty bad on saturday, no excuse for that. Not quite sure what the true problem is though
