WE GOT BLASTED IN THE VALLEY

Yet again another game that we were forced to sit through, this time it was almost too much to bear watching us get blanked in the valley. It reminded me of the days when VT would roll into town and throw 50+ on us. Only thing is back then they had Michael Vick, and they were a national championship contender. I've never wanted to hide under a rock more than at halftime. Here is what I took away from the game:

- He's a good recruiter and I like him as a person. He also has done wonders for our facilities, graduation rate, and reputation. I'm sorry though, Bowden has to go. I don't care what you say, his time is up. He is obviously not the answer for us. He just can't get us over that hump. I can only hope that our Athletic Department realizes this sooner than later and I will wish him luck in his next endeavor when he goes.

- When is Spence going to realize that the Toledo three ring circus just won't work at this level unless you have baller talent, which we don't. Can you imagine the Raiders actually tried to hire him? Imagine how bad this offensive playbook would be in the pros.

-If there is a coaching change, I'd like to see Swinney, Koening, and Napier stay. They've earned their keep.

- I hate it for Cullen Harper, but he wasn't getting the ball to his receivers well enough. This week wasn't so much a problem with the receivers catching the ball. The problem was they had to make highlight reel efforts just to catch passes that should have been gimmes. Also, his arm has to hurt. I don't care how far down we are, you don't throw the ball 65+ times and only run the ball 12 times unless you're Texas Tech.

- This is the first time I've ever seen a score so bad and the defense not be at fault. 10-13 of VT's points were their fault. I'll take that.

- Like Chili stated before the game, I'm done with the season already. It's not that I'm a crazy superfan, it's just I'm tired of the rollercoaster. I want off. I've got motion sickness. Not saying I'm not a fan, or that I won't get excited and participate, I'm just saying I'm taking most of my eggs back out of the Clemson football basket and putting said eggs into a tailgate centric basket. Yet another year that Bowden can't produce or get us over the hump. I don't think that BC is going to lose two games and I don't think we'll beat them head to head. I don't even know if we'd beat Central Michigan right now.

- I'd love to hear Vic Koening behind closed doors. being a fly on the wall for that would be awesome. I bet you he tears up his shirts like Hulk Hogan and bleeds from the ears.

- Which coach do we get from here? And don't say Cowher. He won't ever coach college unless it's at NC State (his alma mater) and that train has left the station. No matter how much money, it ain't gonna happen. I say we pull a decent head coach from the professonial ranks like Southern Cal did.

- EKR to follow.

Bowden's best Souljah Boy impression.

    Eddie's at it again!!!

Damn, though. Bowden really sucks. I hate that it takes a woodshed whoopin like this to make even the most fervent Bowden supporters to see it. But at least folks are now coming around to see it. A loss to Cent Michigan will definitely do him in. I'm halfway hoping for it.

  3. While I agree with you Tommy, I think Paul Johnson would be a step down. We don't need a coach who needs to prove something, we need a coach who has already proven something. Paul Johnson is one helluva ball coach though, enough to make me wanna watch navy if they're on tv.

  4. Unbelievably, it seems that Dan Scott is jumping off the Bowden ship in search for some non orange flotsam based on his show this morning.

  5. I just want to clarify that I'm not giving up on the team, I just am refusing to be emotionally invested in them.

  6. As am I. I'm more emotionally invested in tailgating. Perhaps that came out wrong?

  7. Several suggestions about coaches:

    1. Dan Mullen: Offensive Coordinator and QB Coach at Florida. A bit young, but great with offense, knows the spread, and has coached two outstanding dual threat QBs (Alex Smith at Utah and Tim Tebow) as well as bringing Chris Leak back from oblivion

    2. Bo Pelini: Defensive coordinator at LSU--great coach who uses great talent in creative ways. We have great defensive talent

    3. Jim Leavitt: head coach at South Florida. I think we can offer him a large enough contract to lure him away. He has created the USF program from scratch and has obvious talent

    4. Larry Coker: sounds crazy I know, but Miami is so crazy that they were ready to fire him after 2 losses. I don't think anyone could have thrived in that environment. We're a little nicer up here (we've given TB 9 years, for cryin out loud!), and I think he could fit in well

Paul Johnson is a good coach at Navy, but runs a triple option and I don't think this team would transition smoothly into that offense. I think these four are much better options. What do you think?

  8. What bothers me, is the best quaterback in the stadium never touched the field! When will Bowden realize that Harper is not getting it done and its time to hand over the regins to Korn?!

  9. Maybe you're joking, but to think that the problems with the team are the fault of Harper is absurd. Korn can't do any better if the blocking isn't any better, if the playcalling isn't any better, or if the receivers can't catch any better than they did against GT. And none of it matters if an entire coaching staff can't shore up the holes in the special teams play.

  10. Why was my comment deleted? Did I say something wrong?

  11. By the way I think Harper is the second best qb in the league. He is very good.

  13. I didn't zap it. Blogger has been wierd lately. They took our homeage picture of Danny and stretched it into oblivion. Not happy with them right now.

  15. I got banned from Tigernet for saying, "Clemson isn't any good in football". -Person that always gets banned from Tigernet for being honest.

I don't have a blogger account, so I figured I'd at least take a shot with anonymous.

  16. You should get an account, it's easy and takes two seconds (not literally) to set up. You don't even need to make a blog and we'd love to have your comments and thoughts.

  17. Like your blog said at the end, an NFL coach is the way to go. Completely agree. I'm sure Paul Johnson is good but we need someone who's either an uber-proven college coach or an NFL coach. Right now there are several NFL coaches feeling heat -- Linehan, Nolan, Childress, Mangini (my personal fave), and the list goes on and on. They may be enticed by Clemson's overly-forgiving ways.

College coach wise, I'd prefer a West Coast type. Like Bronco Mendenhall or Chris Peterson. But luring a west coast coach out here will be a feat.

Whether its WC or NFL, Clemson needs to break the mold of what they've always hired and go in a totally new direction for once.

  18. Watching this dallas v. buffalo game is like deja vu. If I was a Cowboy's fan I would probably swallowing a bottle of sleeping pills and washing it down with everclear.

  19. So evidently someone stole my idea for firetommybowden.com, and bought the rights, but hasn't developed it. I'm thinking it was probably Tommy or some of his cronies trying to prevent us from rallying the troops against him. However, I have obtained the rights to Firetommybowden.net . I'm one step ahead of you Tommy... one step ahead

  20. Hey man, thanks for having me. That $70 pizza was amazing. You guys should hire Bill Bradsky as your special teams coach.

  22. isn't Paul Johnson the guy who was beheaded by "the enemy"

I find it funny that now on Tigernet instead of spending all day asking if any gamecocks were arrested that the new posts are directed at firing Bowden, as though Bowden will read pussynet and become offended by it.I mean read my name, Bowden doesn't give a shit if he gets fired or not. He has enough money to retire today and eat titties for the rest of his life on a tropical resort in the Bahamas. Bowden could care less about what the Clemson fans think about him. Hes rich, they aren't. Theres more to be said but whatever.

Anyways, love the site. Keep it up.

  23. Yeah you are right;why should the administration even bother contacting Bill Cowher? He would never come to CU because he won't coach against NCSU.Oh,like Spurrier would never take the job at USuCk because he'll never coach against his beloved gators.Cowher 4 Coach 2008

  24. Dennis Green is available if I am not mistaken.....

  25. Holy christ! I hate the way Bill Cower's face looks. How stupid are the virgins that keep thinking that we are going to land this P.O.S.

  26. I didn't say we'd get Cowher shnookie boy;all I'm saying is he'd make a good one and you can't always believe 'em when they say they're done because they've accomplished all they wanted to.My point is;the administration should not just assume we can't get someone.Assumption is the mother of all f***ups.Defeatist mentality like that will land us another Tammy Bowdown,or Hatfield,or West.

  27. Millionaire,I know this is a wasted invite because you will obviously be in kokville Saturday pulling for your yard buzzards against Vandy, but I feel the need to invite you to Lot 10 if you'd like to grow a pair and say that to my face.I'll be wearing the orange camoflauge pants and the orange shirt that has,Cowher 4 Coach on the front and back.Otherwise,if you not man enough to back up the name calling, cut it out kokboy.
