No jokes today, just seriously disheartening news from our ACC brother-in-arms. Virginia Tech has suffered a huge loss today at the hands of a lone gunman, who killed about 31 people on
two separate shooting sprees. Virginia Tech big wigs have closed the campus for the time being, according to their
homepage. We're not big on the prayer request thing, you know, but just keep the families and such in your thoughts. God be with VT right now.
I never get over this kind of thing. Probably because my wife works for a high school here in Memphis, and there's always trouble lurking (they found a loaded pistol in a student's locker a few short months ago). I really feel for the students and the victims' families. The madness and insanity among our young people is getting worse by the day. God be with us all.
ReplyDeleteIt's a messed up world when you have to fear for your safety or the safety of loved ones in an educational institution.
ReplyDeleteIf that scumbag didn't want to live, why didn't he just kill himself only. The very second he's done, he won't give a rats ass about his ex-girlfriend, people that he thought may have wronged him in life, people that he thought may have had better opportunities in life than he did, etc. Instead, he had to make a stupid, pointless statement and carry out his idiotic revenge. Now 32 families are shattered, torn up, and grieving.
Often watching Gamecock sports (especially Gamecock sports it seems), a moment happens when you wish like hell you could stop time, rewind just a second and try it again with the hope that this time the kick wouldn't be blocked, the 3-pointer would go in, etc. You're sick to your stomach because of the result of the game. The events in VT make me feel bad that I felt so bad about a stupid porting event. if that was ever a time to stop time and have a do-over, it would be at VT Monday morning to stop that kid.
Today we're all Hokies
