I'm not surprised by the outcome of Saturday's game, but I am incredibly disappointed. Fire Bowden? Keep Bowden? Personnel changes? It was clear from the game that, while SC has formidable talent, we have more. We got outcoached and it wouldn't have taken a great coach to coach over the heads of our staff, but Sakerlina just happened to have one. (Not to mention a couple of flubbed calls that would've given Clemson the ball. Twice.)
I don't have a lot of commentary on the game right now, so maybe the faithful readers can add some of their own. Leave your thoughts in the comments section of this post and I'll put them on the front page. For now, here's a writeup from that fishwrap The State.
While I am very dissapointed with several aspects of the game ( lack of imagination in the play calling...too many passing plays... lack of fundamentals in blocking and tackling etc....) was particularly dissappointed in our last posession with the game on the line and behind by three points.
ReplyDeleteEveryone was very tense about whether or not we could score a touchdown which would have won the game. But then came Reggie Merriweather . He was on fire. A spark plug if there ever was one. He was blasting through the line for positive yards and the whole stadium responded to him. We knew he would spearhead a Tiger drive for the winning touchdown. And suddenly.........he was gone.
UNFREAKINBELIEVABLE
parity...it is here to stay...and by apparently by default mediocrity is here to stay at Clemson....oh well...anchors away off to play Navy.
ReplyDeleteWell those two shit duffed calls led to Sakerlina getting 14 pts. I voted second worst call for that spot on the 4th down they didnt get second to the O/OU call that had so much contoversy earlier this year. No, I'm not making excuses, I'm just stating a fact. No, Carolina didnt play a great guy as stated by the worst newspaper in the state of South Carolina. If they did, then we should of beat them. I don't call a great game a hand full of highschool mistakes and INT's a great game. Also, This game proved to me that Spurrier will never win anything at Sakerlina. Going for it on 4th and 2 on your own 30? Stupid. Doing that numerous times which none succeded? Pitful. As for Tommy, Larry Coker needs a job. Why not? Coker has won a championship, gets the recruting done, and can handle a team (I think the fights and all the stuff that has been going on at Miami is simply the players) Given the way that Clemson players act, I dont see any of the fights or anything happening under Cokers watch. Sakerlina played a horrible game. PERIOD. I'm thinking Shreveport again this year? Hey, at least were going to Flordia enstead of that god-forsaking place.
ReplyDeleteOnce again, Tommy goes into a game with terrible preparation and suffers a defeat at the hands of a more intelligent coach with a less talented team. Bowden=Mediocrity
ReplyDeleteYou want some good fun? Check this shit out.
ReplyDeleteGet ready Clemson nation, this was the worst South Carolina team you will face.
ReplyDeleteIt only gets harder from here.
How in the world did Bowden go 8-4 with one of the most talented teams in the country? It boggles the mind. Where was that team that beat GT and WF?
Clemson should be 11-1 at worst with the talent they have. What a disappointment. And, frankly, SC should have won the game, the missed FG was just fate catching up with us. SC whipped us statistically, and their fans ought to be pissed about it being so close.
